It’s that time of year again.
Shamrock Shake season!
Yes, I’ve dedicated an entire season to Shamrock Shakes.
I’m not one of those people who avoids McDonald’s like the plague. But it’s also not something I go out of my way to get, either. Unless there are Shamrock Shakes on the menu. Even then, I try to limit how much I order them, because they pack a whopping 680 calories in 16 oz.
However, I also feel like this season is a little bit of a tease. I immediately rush out to go and get my fix the instant I see it on the menu. Or let’s be completely honest here and admit that I was out shopping all day and needed to feed my toddler, and it just so happens that the pale green shake caught my eye on the menu. However, by the time I’m ready for another – or I should say allow myself to purchase another – it’s as good as gone!
Luckily this shake is super easy to make. So now I can make it year round. Which could either be a good thing or a bad thing.
And for right now I’m going to say it’s a good thing.
However, when I’m twenty pounds heavier, I’ll probably change my mind.
Fortunately for me, this is a skinny version! Made with Halo Top ice cream. And three other ingredients.
Yes, you only need 4 ingredients for this shake!
Dangerous, isn’t it?
Skinny Shamrock Shake
serves: 1 * calories: 240 * fat(g): 9.3 * protein(g): 20.7 * carbs(g): 52.7 * net carbs(g): 20.7
- 2 c. Halo Top vanilla bean ice cream (aka one whole pint)
- 2/3 c. unsweetened cashew almond milk
- 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract
- food coloring (I used about 5 drops of liquid green)
- optional toppings: whipped cream, maraschino cherry
Put the ice cream, milk, peppermint extract, and food coloring into a blender. Blend until thick and creamy.
Enjoy!
Okay, full disclosure? I also make a beeline for McDonalds when they have their eggnog shakes, too!
