Chicken Jerky Treats

It’s been ridiculous how busy I’ve been lately.  I wake up early in the morning and get straight to work on my course work for the semester and then head to work.  I haven’t had a single moment to make and photograph anything new.  Apparently, I lack in the time management compartment.  Trust me, if I had all the time in the world, you would see a different post daily – with an addition of a work out post (plus, I might even be able to learn how to use my camera and all photo-enhancing programs better to amp up my photo-taking skills)!  So, I think I’ve finally figured out what I want to pursue my degree in.  Personal training.  I’ve always had an interest, but my interest keep coming back to that – so I think it’s only right.  But any, enough of that…

I’m bringing you another dog treat recipe.  This one is SO simple.  I don’t know why I don’t have these treats on hand all the time.  I’m sure Prince would be ecstatic if that were the case.

Chicken Jerky Treats

  • boneless skinless chicken breast
  • olive oil

Preheat the oven to 200F and coat your baking sheets with olive oil.  While the oven is preheating, thinly slice the chicken breasts into 1/8-1/4″ thick slices.  Place them on the prepared baking sheets and bake in the oven for approximately 3 hours.  Remove from oven and allow to cool.

Prince absolutely loved these.  I only used a little less than a pound of chicken (because I had a random chicken breast in the freezer), so this only lasted me about a week!  I’m sure if he had his way, though, he’d be eating one after another until they were all gone.  The next time I make these, I’ll probably make a little more because while it is the easiest, put-in-the-oven-and-forget-until-timer-goes-off dog treat, I don’t want to constantly heat up the oven for that long.  It’s still a little warm outside and with my tiny apartment, it heats up quickly.
